Mayo and I will take our show on the road!

I figured that if Mayo and I were going to be taken seriously as showmen, we would naturally need an elephant.  Then Grannymar mentioned the Alps and Hannibal and I got to thinking that we could kind of re-enact that and it would be impressive.  It made me think of the dramatic movie with Victor Mature:

I mean, Mayo and I are those kinds of men.  Rugged, exceptionally handsome.  Action oriented.  I had already purchased the eye patch!

So, I checked to see if one of those spectacular elephants from the movie was available – and it was!!!  So, I got the elephant.

The problem is that I had no idea how much makeup they use for these movies.  Here is how the elephant looks without the makeup:

What do you guys think?

  1. I think that you should do your shopping over here, where more choice is available.

    1. Yes, Rummuser, I had been looking into Pachyderm Mart online and there are some nice specials right now. Perhaps Mayo and I can simply do our purchasing in India and go straight to the Alps. That shouldn't take us long, right?

  2. Eddie the elephant, packed his trunk and said goodbye to his master.
He clumped about and swung his trunk, his tail it was disaster.
But with Mayo along there'll be plenty of song and Tee O will move faster.

    1. Grannymar, after last night's exercise, I'm ready to ride Eddie. And, if Mayo can get me moving faster, power to him!

That is a delightful turn of phrase, by the way.

  3. I think you both are very "crazy". I know Mayo, and he has no idea how to ride an "elephanr".They have elephants in India, maybe Ramana would be a better chioce, but I do agree with your description of Mayo and you.

    1. Gail - welcome! - we are indeed quite crazy. Now as for Ramana being the better choice, he's a good man, but I still think we would be better off with an elephant than with Ramana. Showbiz and all.

And, thanks for noticing how ruggedly handsome Mayo and I are.

  4. I fell over on my heels, and broke more than my funny bone today. I have to sit on a cushion, so there will be no trip to the Alps for me. Time to go lie face down. You boys have fun. I hope that that Grannymar knows what she is getting into. Does she know how to ride an elephant?

    1. Violet, first, heal fast! Take advantage of your youth.

Second, Grannymar is like the rest of us. None of us know what we are getting into ... let alone any of us knowing how to ride an elephant.

    1. Greetings and welcome, Lafawnda!

Actually, that little elephant is 4 tons and only looks small because the picture shows him at the edge of a cliff looking down upon a huge valley!

      Right.

  6. Hello Lafawnda! What a cute name. Almost as cute as that little elephant. If you are fond of elephants why not tag along with the boys and Grannymar. I think she might need minding.

    1. Violet, this marvelous creature can carry all of us into the future.

Does anybody know how you steer one of these things?

  7. Hi Lafawnda! That little guy looks good enough to eat! Don't tell the boys I said that. Do you have experience of riding an elephant? The only ones in Ireland are in the Zoo. I bet you didn't know that during World War 11 the animals in Belfast Zoo were evacuated and the lady who looked after the elephant, took her home to her garden, for the duration of the war.

Oh dear Violet you don't know me. I am well able to handle the boys.

    1. Grannymar, we know you can handle us boys! The question is whether you can handle this elephant...
Mayo, where did you put that scoop?

    2. Tee O, What is this elephant but a big boy. I have no fear of the boys, large or small! Now where is that Mayo hiding?

    3. Last I saw, he was gathering mushrooms ...
