This was the title of a great album from 1974 by the band Little Feat:
This weekend, it took on a new meaning for Lady Fossil and me. Just as we were crossing an intersection after a little walk of a couple of miles, we faced a very big, rented U-Haul Rental Truck:
The above is the intersection where we were crossing as viewed on Google Earth. It is safer from a satellite! The truck was where I have circled in blue the vehicle. It’s path is described by the blue line. Our path is in red, walking with the walk light.
The guy in the truck was unused to actually looking at the ground from that height, I suppose. In any case, he started as we started. We assumed he saw us, but I kept my eye on him. He accelerated and I yelled, “Lady Fossil, look out!” and grabbed her arm to run – which both of us at our ages were delighted to find still happens! Otherwise, we would have been obliterated right where you see the red X.
Love it when our feats don’t fail us.
