No tax break for lap dances????

Yes.  In a sad ruling, New York’s highest court has voted 4 to 3 that lap dancing is not tax exempt because it does not promote culture in a community the way ballet or other artistic endeavors do.

Me, I think New York is just using it as a way of getting more money in their coffers when foreign leaders visit:

NOTE: I had a picture of a foreign “dignitary” in a picture with a pole dancer.  Besides being in bad taste – which he, the lying SOB, deserves – I pulled it knowing that some people react violently to such things.  Besides, it was obviously a picture someone else had photoshopped.

I had no desire to suddenly disappear.  But, you must admit that this ruling and the call for it fits right in there with the absurdity of the day.

    1. My tongue is obviously firmly in cheek on this one, because I can't believe this is an issue before the court system.

  2. A direct result of progressive over-governing Fos - as is the ban on large beverages (sodas) for crying out loud. God bless the guvmint as they strive to make us all healthier. They can take my 32oz coke zero from my cold, dead hand - the evil bastards!!! (please imagine god bless america playing in background as visual of flag flying is shown)

Sorry - I was up late watching the Jints deflate the aura of invincibility that had been bestowed upon Justin Verlander. Seems a new bear has been added to the list of bears detroit has trouble with.

    1. First, and most important, we are way jazzed out here over last night's game. The boy and I are aware that it is just one game, though, but to beat the mighty Verlander like that ...

Now, down to the more trivial. Is this a case of guvmint overreaching? This, after all, is a strip club owner trying to get out of paying taxes with a court case claiming his lap dancers should be as exempt as ballerinas in a ballet. Are you saying the court overreached to accept the case? Me, I'm looking at the cheap little cockroach trying to get out of sales tax! Like that will dissuade his patrons.

Then again, maybe he has special lap dancers wearing tutus.

  3. I remember that the federal government owned a strip club in new York for a while. Can't remember the name - something like Scores - but it was a well known club. Had been taken over for tax avoidance or RICO-related offences i think - but crucially was still being operated as a going concern.

  4. I am a foreign leader/dignitary. What is a lap dance? Does New York import it from Lapland?
