shackman’s company in the spam folder …

For some reason, my great friend shackman always goes to the spam folder.  Always.  It must be the shifty eyes.

Now, how is a guy to determine when comments go to the spam folder what is a legitimate comment and what is not.  I give for your examination a recent comment – fairly typical actually – in that folder and I leave it to you to determine whether you think it is spam or not:

I mean, it’s just so hard to tell …

  1. Shifty??? Scuse me - they're just bloodshot. Ahem. I wouldn't call this exactly august company.

This company is none that I would invite to Barbeque.

  2. Shackman, why don't you ever write such nice poetry as comments in my blog? Amazing stuff that you have written there. Is that Texan?

    1. Cuz once it's here it's get got gone - the dancing digits simply run out of ink, thereby halting all nonsensical babble. Or not. :)

shackman can wax and wane poetic at will. Ephemeral wisdom always on target.

I left this comment, simply because every so often people should get the chance to see just how crappy writing CAN be!

  3. I feel Shackman's pain. I notice lately that no matter how many times I try to comment on some blogs (not here) my efforts disappear. If you add to that the dreaded hoops we have to jump through on some blogs, it is enough to drive one away from the sport altogether! :(

    1. The spam is less here than it was at my other blog. I think it probably is proportional to the traffic in general that is generated.

It gripes me that I have no control whatsoever that I can find with the Blogger spam filter. It has decided shackman, who uses Blogger, is spam and I have no choice. If anyone knows of something I can do, I would appreciate it.

  4. I would instantly flag this comment as spam. At one point, I began to read spam comments so I could get a feel for them. Spam comments have a certain language that stands out.

"…you command got an edginess over that wish you will be delivering the following." To me this is spam speak.

Still, I always check the spam folder 'cause sometime legit comments are sent there.

This was in the spam folder. I picked it because it is so patently absurd, as they usually are. It is so obvious, but I have to check it often because otherwise, shackman could never say anything over here.

  5. Conrad, I would have normally just spammed the comment from Pauline in my post "Beauty Markets" but have left it there for you to see that I am not without admirers! And this one suddenly decides that I am not boring!

If a post is older than 7 days, the comment will go for moderation. Sorry for that inconvenience, but it cuts down on spam and it is much better than Captcha. I promise to check the moderation folder regularly.
