It took place about 25 miles from where I sit right now. I was sitting in a sandbox with a little shovel. There is a set of steps on the outside of the house across the yard and we lived upstairs. Mom has verified my description and tells me I was about two.
Oh, I'm pretty good with the old memories. It's the recent stuff that's challenging! What is the earliest thing you can remember?
I brought this topic to the Loose Blogger Consortium to preempt anyone trying to bring up recent memories, LOL. Sorry I popped it about 12 hours early, but I am working from my phone and have less timing control. Please check out the others on the right side of the page and see what they remembered.
I wish I knew my age during some of my memories. I have many mental "snapshots", but have no clue when they happened.
ReplyDeleteSnapshots is a great description of the nature of really early memories.
DeleteSpot on--the older you are the more vivid the first memories...lovely topic. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI wonder at times which of those memories I have are becoming memories of memories. In other words, have I recoded them over time?
DeleteYep - well put D. Great topic Fossil. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks in return, shackman! Loved what you did with it and I still owe you a pic of my Hoppy knife!
DeleteSo, you started shoveling at the age of two. Now a lot of things about you fall into place!
ReplyDeleteYep. I miss the sand, though.
DeleteOld Fossil, please do save me from myself, and forgive me: I can't resist pointing out that you and Grannymar are amazing. The only two people I know who remember anything as early as two years old. I stand in awe.
ReplyDeleteU
It is kind of a funny memory. My memories when I was three are more fully dimensioned and more linked with thoughts.
DeleteYou remember the sand box, Fossil? Geez, you have a sharp mind.
ReplyDeleteBlessings - Maxi
I seem to have dulled the edge a bit over the years.
DeleteI see you've stayed constant to that memory - sandbox aged two - pyramids picture at the top of this page aged..... two and a bit.
ReplyDeleteFull circle, Paul!
DeleteHi Cuz, I have not fallen off the bus from memory lane. In Dublin since Friday and the memories keep flooding back. My sister (baby of the family) is totally amazed at my recall of a lifetime she knew nothing about.
ReplyDeleteWe need to sit somewhere in a beautiful location and I will listen raptly as you recall.
